Fun Healthy Kids Snacks:
Recipes Kids will Love!

When looking for recipes for fun healthy kids snacks, you want to find ideas that will balance the need for great nutrition with a touch of fun.

Many children enjoy cartoon characters and silly noises-- so snacks that have a sense of fun or a sense of humor can be a big hit with the younger crowd. Bright colors and variety can gain interest from kids as well, but you should rely on taste most of all. Serving many different kinds of snacks will encourage children to explore foods and try new things, a good habit of healthy diets.

Snacks for a Picky Eater. For picky eaters some recipes can help you hide healthy foods among stronger flavors like peanut butter or cheese. This hiding technique can help you begin serving better snacks and improve the overall nutrition of what you are serving... but keep in mind that this method can also backfire. Sneaking in vegetables will not teach children to enjoy the good foods on their own, and kids may end up resenting the stealthy healthy foods.

The recipes for fun, healthy kids snacks on this page are a great way to get some nutrition into your kids while having a bit of fun with them, too. But you'll find more fun kid-friendly snack recipes here.

Planning Snacks for Kids

Our bodies need a balance of nutrients to build strong muscle and bone. Snacks for kids are no exception. At each mini meal try to serve proteins (cheese, chick peas, chicken), whole grains (granola, breads, peanuts) and whole pieces of fruits or vegetables.

Keeping a few snacks prepared and easy to find will help encourage healthier snacking when kids come home looking for an easy bite to grab. Try creating a special area in your pantry and refrigerator for storing these nutritious bites. Fun, healthy kids snacks will pay off with good nutrition and better eating habits over time.
