Spicy and Quick Crab Dip with Garlic
Sailors and seashore dwellers know that a bit of spicy goes well with seafood... and this cream cheese crab dip is no different. Even if you are not normally a fan of spicy, the flavors here can be toned down to serve any palate. Serve this cold crab dip appetizer with garlic rounds of French bread or rustic farmhouse bread. Fresh vegetables like celery and jicama taste great with this dip, too!
8 ounces crabmeat, drained and cleaned for shells
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 rib celery, finely minced
1 clove garlic, minced or pressed
2 tsp. Tabasco (or other hot sauce), or to taste
Minced scallions, to garnish
Directions: 1. Combine all of the ingredients except the crab meat in a medium bowl and mix thoroughly. You may wish to adjust the hot sauce to suit your taste.
2. Gently fold in the crab meat. Chill dip for 1 hour and serve with bread.
